Lisa Lynne: Hands-on-Harps

Lisa Lynne’s pioneering “Hands-on-harps” workshops are a unique interactive musical event where she provides 15 beautiful Celtic harps for participants to learn and perform well known melodies and how to freely improvise their own music, together. Refreshments and a short reception to follow.

Volunteers are needed! If you are available to tune harps, or direct visitors to the event room (Lindman Classroom 1C), please contact seattleahs@gmail.com. Thank you!

Virginia Mason Hospital will be collaborating with the Chapter for this event.

Lisa Lynne & Aryeh Frankfurter are a multi-instrumentalist duo with Celtic Harps, Swedish Nyckelharpa, Cittern and more. They hail from San Francisco and tour extensively, both having successful recording and performing careers built from years of street performing and a background as rock musicians. They have performed with some of the biggest names in folk and acoustic music and have sold well over a million albums combined. Audiences are spellbound and enchanted with their unique show of breathtaking music both Traditional and original, with wondrous stories and humor entwined.

Willi will give a two part discussion and workshop on writing and arranging for harp ensembles and chamber groups. The first evening will be a discussion and lecture on arrangements. And on Saturday, harpists are invited to bring their instruments and personal arrangements for an interactive workshop experience with Willi!

Holiday Harp Extravaganza

Come join harpists throughout the Puget Sound Region for a holiday concert!

The Harp Extravaganza is a fun harp ensemble experience in Federal Way, open to harpists of all ages and abilities and all types of harps. The program of holiday music is arranged for one to four harps; select whichever part you desire. Feel free to play one or two hands as ability allows. It is not necessary to play every song, just those you are comfortable with. Teachers are encouraged to bring their students and play along with them.

We will run through the program for an hour rehearsal from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, break for lunch, and perform the concert at 2:00 PM.

No need to register, just show up with your harp, bench and music stand with your music prepared to play! The ensemble will be led by Catherine Case and Ruthann Ritchie. Archipelago Collective's fifth annual chamber music festival will include three programs of chamber music, two free noon-time recitals, and outreach events at local schools. Directors Sophie Baird-Daniel and Dana Jackson will premiere two newly commissioned works for harp and bassoon to commemorate this 5 year milestone.

Musicians entering grade 9 and above (through age 21) in the upcoming academic school year are invited to apply.  Audition tapes may be required depending on the instrument.  Audition materials will be provided upon receipt of your application.

The live-in festival attracts the talented, motivated and pre-professional young musician for a comprehensive program of summer music study and performance.  Musical studies include chamber music, orchestra rehearsals, masterclasses, orchestral techniques, visiting and live-in artists, section coaching, form analysis, music elements and history classes, daily concerts, faculty and student recitals.

FACILITIES 
The Central Washington University campus features outstanding instructional and recreational facilities as well as modern residence and dining accommodations.  It is located in sunny Ellensburg, Washington.  This state of the art music facility is an inspirational setting for creativity.

Evergreen Music Festival. July 15th-19th at Pacific Lutheran University. A week long intensive orchestra training camp. Younger musicians meet for daily classes and rehearsals. The program is designed for young string, woodwind, brass & percussion players.  String students entering grades 3-8 in the upcoming school year need a minimum of one (1) year experience.  Woodwinds, Brass & Percussion students entering grades 6-8 need a minimum one (1) year experience.
